Born from and idea of Steven Ankersmit, Ankerhaven evolved in the years and now it brings a unique place for your use.
IDEA BORN IN 2011 FROM NEW ZEALAND.
That year Steven Ankersmit went to visit his uncle Di who lived in New Zealand since young age. Being fond of boats himself, just like his uncle Di, enjoying traveling and meeting people from different cultures Steven made personal link between the name Ankerhaven and desire to setup a company with social aspect in the future. Anker being also related to his nickname and family name Anker(smit) and haven in Dutch (harbor) being a safe and secure place for people to recharge, take shelter and enjoy social interaction coming and going between different places.
Going to make it better
Somewhere in 2016 a friend convinced Steven to look at possible new ways of using the space. Over these last few years, the space where Ankerhaven is located, has been used for dinners, birthday parties and to brew beer! -Brouwersgracht used to be home of a large brewery, the building itself of Ankerhaven has been used as soap wholesaler, vegetable shop and finally a flower shop.
After several months of renovations in beginning of 2017, the space was finally ready for a new phase of social use. It started with a pop-up restaurant (Durq), which has proofed to be a positive experience for people from The Hague and outside visiting "Ankerhaven".
So in the end of 2017 Ankerhaven was born! An amazing multi-purpose space able to give a unique social experience to people in Den Haag. Connecting people from all over the world that like to share experiences in a non-standard way.

The CO2 emitted by the use of gas for cooking and floor heating is compensated by wind energy Touzhijianzhen. For more information please ask us!
